Algeria-Canada: Praising positive role of Algeria in unstable regions

Canada’s new ambassador to Algeria, Michael Ryan Callan, praised, today, Wednesday in Algiers, the “positive role” played by Algeria in the regions that experience turmoil, stressing the two parties’ will to “strengthen” their cooperation in several areas.

After handing over his credentials to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Canadian ambassador told the press: “I commend Algeria’s role in the regions experiencing a period of turmoil and which requires wisdom and diplomatic experience, which are advantages that Algeria enjoys and is in a good position to present.”

The Canadian diplomat expressed his “hope to discuss ways and means for Canada to promote peace and stability in the region,” including the possibilities of “supporting some Algerian initiatives if necessary.”

Mr. Michael Ryan Callan affirmed that he had discussed with the President of the Republic his desire to “develop cooperation in the security field,” adding that the two parties reviewed, on this occasion, bilateral relations and “expressed their satisfaction with their quality.”

After expressing his content as to “the presence of many Algerian students” in Canadian schools, the Canadian ambassador highlighted “his country’s gratitude for the positive contribution of the Algerian community in Canada.”

The new Canadian ambassador to Algeria concluded by saying, “We agreed in the end on the availability of great capabilities to develop bilateral relations in the service of the common interest of our two countries and peoples.”
